Billy Mays- the Art of Distribution:

To have a great idea that you can turn in to product that solves a genuine problem is a great triumph. We call this the first stage of product development, or Ideation. To be able to transition that product to efficiently replicate it for the market is the second stage and is called Manufacturing. The last stage and equally critical stage is Distribution. This stage is where you get your product to the customers that are willing to buy it.

Billy Mays was nuclear when it came to communicating your product to your customers in such a way that they were compelled to buy the product now. The use of direct response distribution is reserved for unique products that fit the game, but having a powerful presenter with passion, drive and rapport is critical to turn that product from just a massive inventory of worthless parts to cash cow. Mays had he unique personality to get products communicated and sold to the masses. His show with Sullivan called Pitchmen was a great opportunity to see under the covers of product development and how an idea, either good or bad, must be germinated, nurtured and energized to become a success. However, it always shows that there is no shortage of entrepreneurs in our great USA that are willing to do these things and invest the many years required for overnight success, including Billy Mays.
